The Problem
The logistics and supply chain industry is notorious for using paper-based documents such as Limited Purchase Orders (LPOs), Goods Received Notes (GRNs), Purchase Requisitions, Delivery Notes, Invoices, Quotations, Receipts, and many more.
When our co-founders managed 3PL warehousing, we would always receive inbound stock from suppliers delivered into our warehouses accompanied by 3 paper documents: a limited purchase order, a buyer's invoice, and a delivery note. We would have to manually enter all that data from three documents into our Inventory Management System — done by at least 5 data entry clerks who would spend the whole working day entering data from hundreds of inbounds received per day.
This problem was not unique to us. Recently, we visited an early customer who is one of the largest manufacturers of cooking oil in Kenya. We found several data entry clerks with heaps of papers on their desks, manually entering data from payment receipts & goods-received notes into their SAP ERP System. The CEO of the factory requested if Logistify AI could automate that process because it was delaying payments reconciliation with their buyers.
